A chief executive and his colleagues lent their support to Cycle to Work Day yesterday by getting on their bikes for their commute to work.
The national day, championed by Paralympic cycling star Dame Sarah Storey, aims to encourage as many people as possible to take to two wheels and cycle to their workplace.
Hertsmere Borough Council staff jumped on their bikes yesterday morning for their journey into work, taking full advantage of a recently-installed, fabricated steel bike shelter right outside civic offices.
The shelter was specially designed for the council by the Baldock-based Icknield Forge.
Chief Executive Donald Graham, a keen cyclist, said: "I am a very keen cyclist and think it's an excellent way to stay fit, as well as being an environmentally-friendly form of travel. We were pleased to be able to pledge our support to this excellent national initiative."
