Four Hertfordshire students accomplished their dreams as they gained black belt status in karate.
Luke Boorman and Harry Taylor, of Borehamwood, and Christopher Gurney and Nicola Li, of St Albans, were awarded their black belts on Sunday by 6th Dan chief instructor Vando De-Bellis of Tigers Shotokan Karate.
All four started at their local club between the ages of six and seven, and have trained twice a week since.
The three took their black belt grade in front of a panel of three Senior Karate instructors, fellow karate ka and family and friends, and had to demonstrate their understanding of the advanced level.
Sensei Vando said: “They all started very young, not truly understanding the meaning of learning the art of karate. They are very different people from when they first walked into our dojo. They must be very proud of what they have achieved and they will learn to appreciate the true meaning of this.
“Everyone at the club is very delighted, an excellent result."
