Tributes have been paid to a "gentle, natural" Borehamwood man whose work was seen by millions of film and television viewers around the world.
Peter Wilkinson, 61, died on May 16 after a short illness.
Born on January 9, 1953, he lived and worked in Borehamwood all his life.
Mr Wilkinson's trade as a scenic painter involved creating sets in the film industry, and included many major films at studios in the UK including Elstree, Pinewood and Shepperton. He also worked on many TV series including Monarch of the Glen.
A Manchester United fan Peter loved football, and played for Holmes Hill Middle School and his local under 20s team.
But despite a busy life of films and football, Peter's family describe him as a "gentle soul". He enjoyed reading and music, particularly Bob Dylan and the Traveling Wilburys, and spent the past few years living in Shenley Road caring for his mother, who celebrated her 100th birthday last year.
He leaves his mother Blodwen and siblings Lizzy, Jillifer and Dennis.
Sisters Lizzy and Jillifer said Peter was a very "natural person", and hope their plans for a humanist funeral are what he would have wanted.
The funeral will be held on June 6, from 1pm. The family ask that people wishing to attend contact them for more details.
