Firefighters are offering people free smoke detectors as part of a campaign to reduce the number of fire-related deaths.
Crews at Borehamwood Fire Station are offering free home fire safety visits, where they will also offer advice to residents.
Watch Commander Bob Williams of white watch, Borehamwood said: “Its not just about fitting a free smoke detector, its about your actions and escape plan when the alarm sounds and your home is filling with toxic smoke.
“Just recently we’ve had several house fires countywide from which people have been very lucky to escape with their lives. It’s not often you get anything free in this life so please take full advantage of this offer and contact us immediately.”
