The Spielbergs and Kubricks of the future showed off their skills during a school’s film festival.

Pupils from all year groups at Yavneh College in Borehamwood wrote, directed and starred in their own films during the school's inaugural competition last week.

The festival, which was held over two lunchtimes, was judged by headteacher Spencer Lewis, film producer Alex Gordon, and chairman of Elstree Studios Councillor Morris Bright.

The winning film was a comic science fiction production called Snack to the Future, created by Alex Zur, Aron Carr and Benji Fisher.

Its producers and actors will be given a free tour of the BBC Elstree studios as a prize.

Mr Lewis said: “There are some amazingly talented young people at Yavneh College.

“The standard of the films was extremely high with almost-professional camera work and editing and some really novel ideas. I really was very proud.”
