A Borehamwood man been arrested on suspicion of money laundering and tax fraud.
The man, as well as a man and a woman from South Buckinghamshire, were arrested yesterday by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) criminal investigators.
They are suspected of carrying out income tax and VAT fraud worth £900,000.
HMRC spokesman Bob Gaiger said: “Tackling tax fraud is a key priority for HMRC and we will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds.
"Anyone with information about people who may be involved in tax fraud can contact the Tax Evasion Hotline on 0800 788 887.”
All three have been interviewed and investigations are ongoing.
They have been released on bail until November.
