For their 68th annual Shakespeare play, the Old Harrovian Players present Richard III in Harrow School’s historic Speech Room. The performances will take place on Friday, September 13, and Saturday, September 14, at 7.30pm.

After years of brutal civil war, England’s fate hangs in the balance. And Richard, Duke of Gloucester, has set his sights on the crown.

Jack Firoozan, a notable Hamlet at the Ryan Theatre in 2017, returns to Harrow to play Shakespeare’s most famous villain. This production unites some other familiar OH actors with emerging talent.

This year’s production is directed by Adam Cross, the School’s Director of Drama. Adam most recently directed Harrow School’s production of Twelfth Night at Shakespeare’s Globe in March this year.

Adam said: “Shakespeare’s Richard, with his ruthless drive for power, and unlikely charisma, is always a tantalising prospect for an audience. To be presenting the play within the historic and spectacular Speech Room setting, and in Globe-inspired playing conditions to accentuate the connection between actor and audience, promises an electric experience.”

This year’s production will also feature a brand-new Tiring House set piece, commissioned and constructed especially for Harrow’s Speech Room to echo the playing conditions of Shakespeare’s Globe.
