Trinity Orchestra has announced details of their new season under the artistic leadership of Music Director John Andrews.

Six exciting programmes will be presented at Trinity Church in Hindes Road, Harrow, during the group’s 39th season which begins on Saturday, October 5.

The concerts will feature a variety of thrilling orchestral compositions, including Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique Symphony, Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.

Lesser-known works will also be celebrated, such as Louise Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3 and the ‘Irish’ Symphony by Sullivan (of Gilbert & Sullivan renown). Trinity Orchestra’s Music Director John Andrews is a champion of Arthur Sullivan’s music, having recently conducted several highly acclaimed recordings of his works.

As always, an impressive line-up of soloists will feature in the performances. Superb soprano April Fredrick will star in Strauss’ Four Last Songs, and up-and-coming cellist Ben Tarlton will perform Elgar’s famous Cello Concerto – a work celebrating its centenary in 2019.

Every year the orchestra collaborates with the Royal College of Music to showcase the talent of some of the world’s finest young musicians. This season features outstanding RCM musicians Matt Glendening in Copland’s Clarinet Concerto and pianist Martin James Bartlett – former BBC Young Musician winner – in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23.

Violin works bookend the season: Korngold’s Violin Concerto performed by international musician and Harrow School professor Dimitar Burov, and Barber’s Violin Concerto performed by inspiring player Clare Howick.

Trinity Orchestra welcomes guest conductors Claudio Di Meo and Tom Seligman to direct concerts in autumn 2019, and the ensemble’s celebrated Music Director John Andrews will take to the conductor’s podium for the remaining four performances in spring/summer 2020.

Music Director John Andrews said: “I am absolutely delighted to be conducting such a diverse series of works from Beethoven and Louise Farrenc to Wagner and Malcolm Arnold. We have a wonderful line-up of young, charismatic soloists this season to play with this superb orchestra and I am really looking forward to working with all of them.”

Trinity Orchestra is made up of professional musicians, music teachers, students and accomplished amateurs from the local area. Performing with some of the country’s finest soloists, the orchestra has provided Harrow’s community with concerts of the highest quality since it was founded in 1980.

All concerts take place at Trinity Church, Hindes Road, Harrow. The music begins at 7.30pm with a free pre-concert talk at 7pm.
