Classic children’s characters are brought to life on stage this February half term at artsdepot in North Finchley. With dragons and princesses, dancing pilots in deserts, or a whole colourful host of familiar characters in Happyland, there’s plenty for families to choose from. Plus, there are artistic and dance workshops for the whole family to get stuck into.

The venue, a regular at the Fantastic for Families Awards, is bringing together a spectacular theatre and dance programme with engaging workshops for an entertaining half term for all ages.

Mr Men & Little Miss On Stage

Join your favourite Mr Men and Little Miss characters as they leap off the page and onto the stage in this beautifully crafted and hilarious live stage show. There’s something for the whole family as the Mr Men and Little Misses adventure through Happyland with fun and laughter. For ages 1+.

For almost 50 years, Mr Men and Little Misses have brought joy to millions of children all over the world through self-expression, colour, simplicity and humour. Full of classic characters like Mr. Bump, Little Miss Splendid, Mr Tickle, Little Miss Inventor and many more, Happyland bursts to life in a series of colourful and timeless stories told through puppetry and music.

Loved by children and adults around the world for generations, the classic tale by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry will be given a fresh and witty new adaptation. You are invited to join the Little Prince as he journeys through a weird and wonderful universe, meeting fascinating characters along the way whilst learning about the value of friendship and love. Protein’s new show invites us to look at the world through one’s heart and to reconnect with our inner child. For ages 4+.

Formed in 1997, Protein is one of the most distinctive voices in British dance theatre, using a blend of original choreography, humour and music to create witty shows.

Zog

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved Zog is taking to the stage. Large in size, and keen in nature, Zog tries so hard to be a proper dragon. Luckily, the plucky Princess Pearl gets him ready to face his biggest challenge yet: a duel with knight, Sir Gadabout the Great. For ages 3+.

The smash-hit stage adaptation from Freckle Productions is back and promises to be bigger, brighter and more roar-some than ever before. With brand new songs from Joe Stilgoe, the beloved Zog is a magical production for all ages.

Cartoon workshop – Packed Lunch Characters

A fun-filled character drawing workshop designed to get children’s imaginations racing. Children will learn how to draw their favourite foods, inspired by packed lunches for school, and turn them into colourful characters. For ages 3–6.

Get feline good about drawing animals with your bear hands in this purr-tastic workshop. Learn to draw the fast and the furriest, a meowtain of cats, and leave with the best animal art koalafications. For ages 6+.

The Little Prince Family Dance Workshop

Families are invited to participate together in this fun, fast-moving and surprising workshop that explores the playful universe of The Little Prince. There will be movement, adventure, and exploration for all involved. For ages 5–12 and their grown-ups.
