Boreham Wood are back in training and getting ready for their first pre-season friendly.
Ian Allinson's side returned to training this week and it is now less than a week before they welcome Championship outfit Crystal Palace to Meadow Park, that match taking place on Thursday, July 9 (7.30pm).
Wood have a number of mouthwatering friendlies on the slate.
Two days after the visit of Neil Warnock's Palace, Wood host another Championship outfit - Watford (July 11).
League Two Dagenham & Redbridge visit on July 14, while an Arsenal XI come to town on August 4.
Meanwhile, Allinson has been busy shaping his squad.
Central defender Ryan Kirby will become his assistant this season, but will also remain a player. Kirby has also been appointed one of the club’s PASE coaches.
Another new addition to the backroom staff is goalkeeping coach Steve Wallduck.
Wallduck made 48 first-team appearances in goal for Wood during the 1980s.
He originally made his first-team debut against Lewesin March 1985. He then left but returned very briefly during the 1987/88 season.
Former Wood midfielder Paul Burrows, who was forced to retire early from the game with a serious back injury, has now passed his Level Two coaching course and will become joint manager of the club’s Suburban Football League team, together with Paul Tarrier.
