Borehamwood-based Hertsmere Flyers Swimming Club have won the Hertsmere Challenge Cup for the fifth year running.
Competing against seven other teams from Hertfordshire and North London, the Flyers nudged out Bushey in a thrilling competition that went down to the last few races.
The Flyers had a great night, securing 28 personal best swims, with 11-year-old Zoe Munkley breaking the girls’ 50m fly junior club record.
The flying start continued the next day, with 14 swimmers taking part in the first open competition of the swimming season, where a total of 24 medals were gained. Gold medal winners were Adam Nash, Miran Shah, Chloe Simmons and Abigail Smith. Kimia Baradaran, Miranda Willis, Miran Shah and Chloe Simmons were also awarded prestigious speeding tickets for going too fast for the level of the competition.
