Boreham Wood will look to reach a second successive Herts Senior Cup final when they travel to Bishop’s Stortford tomorrow evening.

In the quarter-final Wood managed to overcome a young Watford side 1-0 at Meadow Park while their semi-final opponents defeated Ware.

The game is a repeat of the 2013/14 final which saw Wood win on penalties thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper James Russell.

Both clubs have done well in the competition recently. The Blues lifted the cup in 2010 with a 4-0 win against Cheshunt and repeated the feat in 2012 with a 7-2 success against Oxhey Jets.

Meanwhile, Wood reached the final last season, losing 1-0 to National League South side Hemel Hempstead.

Wood are finding their first season in the top division of the National League top division tough going and Saturday’s 2-0 home loss against basement side Kidderminster Harriers kept them 21st with 28 points from 30 games.

The Blues, meanwhile, have enjoyed a fine run of form recently. Their last National League South defeat came in December to basement side Basingstoke Town, leaving them 15th in the competition.

Since then a run of nine games unbeaten in all competitions, prior to Saturday’s narrow defeat at home to runaway leaders Ebbsfleet United, has left them ninth in the table with an eye on the play-off places.

Bishop’s Stortford have already booked a place in the final of the Herts Charity Cup and the Blues will be looking to repeat the double success of 2012.
