Boreham Wood will be out for revenge on Tuesday evening when Bromley, the side who beat them to the title last season, make the trip to Meadow Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

The south London side snatched the title from Wood’s grasp in the run in last season and finished two points ahead of Ian Allinson’s men to secure automatic promotion to the National League in the process.

In the end it mattered little as Wood went up via the play-offs, beating Whitehawk in extra-time in a memorable encounter at Meadow Park.

However, the Lilywhites have enjoyed a more promising start to life at this level and after Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Macclesfield Town find themselves in 13th.

Back-to-back wins have lifted Mark Goldberg’s side up the National League standings with an impressive 3-0 win over Gateshead putting a full stop to a run of seven games without victory.

Former Brentford and Woking striker Ademola Moses has been at the centre of that improvement, scoring against the Silkmen and the Heed to give him four in seven outings this season.

The 26-year-old began his career with Croydon Athletic where his form attracted the attention of Brentford. Signed for £2,500 – a fee paid for by Bees fanzine ‘Thorne in the Side’ – he made just a handful of first team appearances for the west London outfit before joining Woking in 2010 following a loan spell.

Stints at Eastleigh, Dover Athletic and Canvey Island preceded his move to Bromley in 2014 and he netted 15 times in the league last season to help to Lilywhites to promotion.

The two sides last met five games from the end of last season when Bromley effectively wrapped up the title with a 2-1 win over Wood at Hayes Lane.

Josh Hill gave Allinson’s side the lead but Wood were pegged back by Anthony Cook’s penalty, awarded in controversial circumstances, before striker Bradley Goldberg sealed the win nine minutes from time.

Wood have not beaten the south Londoners in eight attempts with their last victory coming against the Lilywhites, 2-1, at Meadow Park in November 2011.

Indeed, Boreham Wood’s record against Bromley does not make pretty reading. The Hertfordshire side have won just two of 15 encounters and only once in the league. Their last win prior to that came in the FA Trophy in 2005, Wood running out 4-1 winners at home.
