Radlett suffered a fourth round defeat in the National Club Championship, losing by 148 runs to Ealing on Sunday.

After winning the toss, Ealing decided to bat first and the decision paid off as they reached a total of 240 for eight in 45 overs.

Ben Lederman was the most effective bowler for Radlett, taking four for 58, while Stanley Tinkler finished with two for 43. Matt Creese took one for 30 and Kabir Toor snared one for 53.

But Radlett failed to get going during their innings and never threatened to reach the target as they were dismissed for 92 in 33.2 overs.

Toor opened with 22 and Tom Jenkins hit 15. Lederman was the only other player to reach double figures as he scored 16. However, it was an innings to forget for the side as Ealing comfortably progressed to the next round.

Radlett’s Premier Division match against Sawbridgeworth was abandoned on Saturday due to rain.

Winning the toss, Radlett chose to field first but their opponents held their own to post a total of 258 all out.

Lederman returned with figures of four for 60 while Toor picked up three for 62 and Daniel Foster claimed two for 47.

But the rain intervened at the start of Radlett’s innings and the match was brought to an early end.

They are due to face Letchworth Garden City in the league this weekend.

Radlett have the chance to defend the Watford Observer Fourteen14 Shield after reaching the final following a 17-run win over Watford A on Tuesday.

A strong batting performance in the first half of the innings, helped by some poor fielding, laid the platform for the Cobden Hill side to post a challenging 163 for six in their 14, eight-ball overs.

Bury also started well but the further injection of runs needed from the mid-point of their reply, with the exception of one over, did not materialise and they were dismissed for 146 with one ball of the match remaining.

Shane Burger (32) led the way for Radlett as he helped take them on to 98 for one at the halfway stage of the match.

Captain John Armitage contributed 34 to help take the team to a competitive total.

Burger impressed with the ball as he took three for 27 off four overs while Troy Barrett picked up four for 41 from three.

Radlett did enough to book their place in the final as they attempt to become the fourth side in the competition’s history to retain the trophy.

Radlett Seconds extended their unbeaten run in Division Two A after a draw with Northwood.

A first defeat of the campaign looked on the cards when they slipped to 25 for five chasing 262 for victory but a superb middle order performance from stand-in captain Jonny Armitage and all-rounders Michael Lee and Troy Barrett saw Radlett in control until rain intervened.

Radlett were put into the field and struck early with Neil Lederman (two for 56) removing one of the openers but a big partnership saw Northwood reach 143 for two.

The rest of session was evenly contested and wickets were shared between Lee (two for 57), Barrett (one for 27) and Malde (one for 34) as Northwood posted an impressive 261 for six from their innings.

The reply started badly as rain intervened and turned a good track into a tricky surface to bat on.

The top five struggled and Radlett found themselves staring down the barrel of a first defeat.

But stand-in skipper Armitage (77) had other ideas and with an innings which included nine sixes, swung the game in Radlett’s favour.

He was supported superbly by Lee (51 not out) and Barrett (47 not out) who were pushing hard to win the game but the rain intervened once again and Radlett ran out of overs to complete the victory as they ended up on 201 for six from 32 overs.

Shenley Village eased to a 122-run win over Redbourn in the second round of the Readers County Trophy on Sunday.

Tom Bruce led the way with a superb knock of 119 while Jordan Urban made 83. Morgan Stanley added 32 and Paresh Kerai scored 20 as Shenley Village took control of the tie.

Redbourn found the demanding target too much and were dismissed for 203 in 45.3 overs.

Lathan Mahalingam returned figures of two for 23 and Lloyd Willingham also made a decent contribution taking two for 41.

Shenley Village’s reward is a game against Knebworth Park in the quarter-finals of the competition on July 19.
