Shenley Village suffered a three-wicket defeat at home to Botany Bay in the Herts Championship on Saturday.

After winning the toss, Shenley Village opted to bat first. Their innings started brightly enough with opener Charles Thurston hitting 60. Tom Bruce chipped in with 58 while Matthew Evans added 25. Their knocks helped the side post a score of 203 all out from 45 overs.

But Shenley Village’s hopes of the victory were derailed by a superb century from opener Ben Howgego (109).

Thurston took four for 23 but Botany Bay reached the target for the loss of seven wickets after 45.2 overs.

Shenley Village Seconds eased to a seven-wicket victory over Hoddesdon Seconds in Division Five B.

Hoddesdon chose to bat but were restricted to 173 from their innings. Jiten Savani was the pick of the bowlers taking four for 35 while Ketan Prajapati finished with two for 43.

In reply, Shenley Village had few problems chasing down the target for the loss of three wickets in 40 overs.

Lathan Mahalingam hit 39 while Laurie Willingham also contributed 38 as they coasted to victory.

Shenley Village Thirds maintained their winning start to the Division Nine B season continued with a dominant 80 run win over Cockfosters Fourths.

Shenley posted a total of 176 for eight from their innings. But Cockfosters had no answer in response as they were skittled for 96 in just 26.3 overs.

Rickmansworth Fourths earned an eight-wicket win over Shenley Village Fourths.

The top three of the Shenley Village batting lineup got the side off to a positive start and at 90 for one Rickmansworth were up against it. But Shenley Village were eventually restricted them to 183 all out.

The Rickmansworth innings got off to a sticky start on six for two. However 112 not out by Ben Soames, saw them home without further loss.

Radlett fell to their first Premier Division defeat of the season after losing by four wickets to Welwyn Garden City.

The side scored a total of 216 all out with Johnny Armitage finishing unbeaten on 39.

Welwyn managed to reach the target with in 49.1 overs despite two wickets apiece for Joe Cooke and Matt Creese.

Radlett Seconds made it four wins out of four after beating Holtwhites Trinibis by six wickets in Division Two A.

Holtwhites, batting first, were bowled out for 209. Their innings included three run outs but it was Robin Willis picking up four wickets who led the attack.

Youngster Alex Cook starred for Radlett and finished on 88 not out.

Radlett Thirds suffered a seven-wicket defeat to London Colney in Division Five A after only scoring 109.

The Fourths picked up a 30-run win over Old Owens Seconds in Division Seven B.

Radlett Fifths’ losing run continued after a nine-wicket defeat to Harpenden Fifths in Regional Division A West.
