Arsenal Ladies midfielder Jordan Nobbs believes the Gunners have much-needed stability ahead of the new Women's Super League campaign.

The 2014 season was a far cry from seasons gone by but an FA Cup win in June provided the catalyst for the Gunners to display a marked improvement in the second half of the season.

So much so that Pedro Martinez Losa's side eventually finished the fourth in the Women's Super League - just five points behind eventual winners Liverpool Ladies.

Reflecting a year very much of two halves, Nobbs said: "Stability is the right word. We lacked it last season but now it is time for us to settle down an get a bit of structure if we are to kick on this season and get back to where we want to be.

"I think it was a big change around the club. We went through four managers and lost a big chunk of the squad so we had to re-build very quickly. We did not adapt at first and went into the season with a new squad which obviously brings it's own disadvantages because you are trying to learn each other's strengths and weaknesses.

"But I do think the second half of the season showed the strength of this group of players because by the end we had a very good finish and two games could have been the difference between us winning the league or not. I think last season was a good thing."

The former Sunderland midfielder added: "I think last season we grew as a team and as a players and we learned a lot. It shows the character of the squad that even though we had four or five different managers we came close. But ultimately it is hard to compete with teams that have stability."

The Gunners started the season under the stewardship of Shelley Kerr but she resigned after exiting the Champions League at the hands of Birmingham City. Academy director John Bayer and senior player Kelly Smith then juggled management of the team until Martinez Losa was appointed as Kerr's permanent successor.

And Nobbs has been impressed by the Spaniard: "We all know as a team and individuals what he wants from us and what his ideas are. He also brings the added advantage of knowing players from Spain and the USA and he has been able to bring in a couple of girls from Spain too. Hopefully they can improve us."

The 2015 WSL season begins in March and Arsenal will kick off the campaign at Notts County on Thursday, April 2. Nobbs insists it is now business as usual for the Gunners: "We want to win the Women's Super League, the FA Cup and the Continental Cup. This is Arsenal and we always want to win everything. That is the expectation. I want to be winning trophies every single year."

That relentless enthusiasm for winning is why the 22-year-old recently committed her long-term future to the club. She said: "I have been at Arsenal since I was 17 and I could not imagine being anywhere else. I want to be part of Arsenal's future."
