Shenley Village were crowned Herts Division One champions with two games remaining after a comprehensive 139-run win over Holtwhites Trinibis on Saturday.

The club’s reward is a place in the Championship next season for the first time.

Shenley Village opened the batting and Charlie Thurston was in superb form as he scored 115 for his second century in three weeks.

Lloyd Willingham notched 35 while there was 32 from Kris Nissen. Tom Bruce finished unbeaten on 74 alongside Paresh Kerai (22 not out).

Their performances helped the side declare on 297 for three after 47 overs.

Holtwhites Trinibis got off to a poor start in response as their opener was out inside the first over.

Nikhil Borkhatria was the most effective bowler as he returned figures of four for 45. Craig Rawlings took two for 23 while Bruce chipped in with two for 26.

Holtwhites Trinibis were dismissed for 158 in 38.4 overs as Shenley Village extended their unbeaten run to ten games.

The newly-crowned champions face Kings Langley this weekend.

Shenley Village Seconds were denied victory in their draw with Boxmoor in Division Six.

Opener Vajinder Paul contributed 45 while Richard Evans top scored with 46.

The lower order made useful contributions with Oli Andrews scoring 30 and Geoff Evans hit 31 as Shenley Village finished on 213 for eight.

Boxmoor were fortunate to hold on for a draw as they survived on 177 for nine.

John Smith picked up four for 32 from eight overs while Jiten Savani impressed with four for 66 from 18 overs.

Radlett earned a three-wicket win over Bishop’s Stortford in the Premier Division.

Bishop’s Stortford finished on 236 for seven from their innings. In reply, Radlett reached the target for the loss of seven wickets.
