Jordan Nobbs has vowed to make a big impact once fit this season, with helping Arsenal Ladies reclaim the FA Women’s Super League crown top of her list of priorities.

Nobbs joined Arsenal, who will play at Borehamwood's Meadow Park once again this season, from Sunderland in 2010 – a year before the inaugural Super League season that saw the Gunners win the title by three points.

She has impressed for England throughout the age groups and at senior level and helped Arsenal defend their title in 2012 but was wounded by a third-place finish last term.

Nobbs won’t be fit for the start of the new season as she recovers from a back injury suffered on England duty but is determined to ensure the 2014 campaign is memorable one.

“I want to play a major role for Arsenal this season and be part of the main England team,” said Nobbs.

“A main aim is to keep getting goals for the side and I’ve put in a lot of hard work which hopefully will pay off this season.

“With the team we have we are serious contenders for the title this year, although of course I think it could be very unpredictable because of all the changes and signings all of the teams have made.

“We are a confident team – we just need to push ourselves as players and we will try and do everything this season to win trophies and push ourselves to the very highest level.”

Arsenal have strengthened their squad with stellar signings, including Yukari Kinga and Shinobu Ohno. Both helped Japan win the World Cup in Germany in 2011 and were silver medallists at the London 2012 Olympics.

And Nobbs believes competition for places will enhance the Gunners' performances this term.

“You can’t go wrong when you bring in two world-class Japanese players who have won major trophies. I’m sure they will be a massive asset to the team this year,” added Nobbs.

“Bringing world class foreigners in like we have will strengthen the league further and improve the performance of English players.

“Whatever can strengthen our league and strengthen our game can only be a good thing for the women’s game.”
