Ellie Baker finished third in the Under-17 800m at the English Schools Championships in Birmingham.

The 15-year-old from Borehamwood, running for Hertfordshire, won both her heats and returned to claim third in a new personal best time of 2.07.59.

This puts her third in the UK rankings and and under the world standard time of 2.08.

Baker is already England AAA Under-17 indoor champion at 800m, a feat she achieved in February this year.

The teenager is coached by the former West Ham United and Scotland captain Christian Dailly.

Baker has already set her sights on returning next year to try and win the title.
