Watford midfielder Piero Mingoia has joined Boreham Wood on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old will link up with his cousin Mario Noto as he looks to try and help Wood win promotion from the Conference South.

Mingoia made his first-team debut for Watford in January 2011 and the youngster had a spell on loan at Accrington Stanley earlier this season.

Wood boss Ian Allinson told the club website: “We really are delighted to capture the signing of Piero from Watford on a long term loan.

"He is an exciting young prospect, who we’ve known about for years and we’ve followed his career closely.

"When his services became available to us on loan, we didn’t hesitate as he will be a great addition to our squad and will I’m sure contribute to our promotion push.”

Oh how smart you are!
There's no limit on how many players we hold so why let him go? He's got a contract and there's always a chance he might still come good.

I like these local loans where we can go and check them out. Assombalonga and Smith at Wealdstone seemed to work really well for all concerned. And of course Conference South is a level up from that. I agree - he could yet be decent. Well worth a try.

Bringe......chance he will come good ? like liam henderson......like joe garner....like scott loach..... We have gone up too many levels now and he along with jenkins and wichlowe will never get near our 1st team. All these boys been out on loan to league teams and sat on the bench most of them. Time to get rid. Thats how smart i am !

It's a shame as I liked the look of him and Zola seemed to like him pre season and he scored a couple so seems a shame he's dropped to such a low keel but same as Jenkins and Wichelow they should have been I or around the first team squad by now so like Bennett will probably go before long so I agree with you Jason our expectations are now higher from the Pozzos so these players won't last long here.

If in the summer someone offers a poxy £20k it's still a poxy £20k more than nothing. Don't overlook the fact that if we release him now we still have to pay up most if not all of his contract.
Why shouldn't we be able to loan him out, it costs us nothing.

Plenty of posters on these boards have lost interest in our academy boys and have become seduced by higher profile loan signings. Success means more to some and win at all costs seems to be the way. I still look forward to a Watford side that has a necleus of home grown talent and I hope that the likes of Piero can prove that it is possible.

northofwatfordpete - If the local boys are good enough they will come through - but if we want to compete at a higher level we have to have boys that can do that. The academy is fantastic and it will get stronger again as they review how they want to go forward.

All of the "success" is turning some of us in to Chelsea type supporters. Intolerant of people who try but are not the finished article.

All players on Watford's books are family. If PM was a moaning money grabbing colostomy bag it would be different.

He is trying to earn a living and was signed along with a number of other hopefuls when the club was so poor the reserves had to share a toothbrush.

I think some players at Watford play badly as "supporters" get on their backs. I cannot recall any player GT picked got treated the way we are now treating some of the players we have. He quietly unloaded them - Jimmy Walsh being the first. Now it is not so easy post Bosman as they have fixed contracts.

Let's leave the rest of football to moan at our players.
