Tabard stretched their unbeaten record as they overcame a strong London Nigerians as Dan Ashcroft scored two tries to give his side a 30-16 win.

The match was hotly contested at the beginning and it was the Nigerians who made the early running, exerting a lot of pressure and being rewarded with a penalty from their stand off, Downden.

Tabard had openings of their own and following a clearance kick by Nigerians resulted in a quick throw in to full back Ashcroft who set up winger Jamie Hancock to run in the try in the corner.

The match disintegrated for a period following a blatant stamp by one of the London Nigerians on a Tabard player that was ignored by the referee.

Tabard in fact found themselves penalised as Dowden kicked the Nigerians into the lead once again.

However, Ashcroft was in devastating form and when scrum-half Harry Gough took a short penalty, Gerry Arasa fed Ashcroft to score a terrific try.

The momentum was with Tabard and moment later Gough took a quick free kick following a scrum infringement and flanker Tom Davies was on hand for the score which stand off Jack Reilly converted.

Reilly converted a penalty just before half-time as Tabard went in with a resounding 20-6 lead.

The Nigerians came out for the second half with renewed vigour and their fullback Lam scored a try, which Dowden converted to take the score to 20-13.

However, Tabard were not to be denied their win and Reilly kicked the ball through for Ashcroft to chase and fall on to score his second try on the match which Reilly converted.

Converted penalties for each side completed the scoring on a successful afternoon for both Tabard and the excellent Ashcroft.

Tabard are away to UCS Old Boys this weekend.
