Boreham Wood target FA Cup win over Hayes & Yeading United

Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson insists his side know what is required to to get a result at Hayes & Yeading United in their FA Cup first round tie on Sunday.

Omer Riza fired Wood to a 1-0 win at the Kingfield Stadium earlier in the season and the manager will be hoping for more of the same.

Allinson said: “They do not give you much of the ball and we need to be better with our ball retention. It will be a tough game but we know what is required.”

It is eight years ago since Wood made it past the last qualifying round, earning a trip to Blackpool where they were beaten 4-0.

It will be a very close encounter, with Hayes and Yeading sitting just two points behind Wood in sixth place in the Blue Square Bet South Division.

The prize money of £12,500 is incentive enough for both sides as they look for a decent run in the competition.
