Ishin Ryu Ju-Jitsu held its fourth Hertfordshire Infant & Junior Championships in Borehamwood, with over 100 fights held during the day.

The event began in traditional style, with all of the students lined up facing the front of the hall for the opening ceremony. They were all expected to behave respectfully and did so throughout the day.

Founder and chief instructor Prof. Kevin Pell, Black Belt ninth Dan, and the assistant National Coach for Great Britain, Trevor Steward, Black Belt fourth Dan, led the referees for the contest.

The infant section held their competitions in the morning, with over 60 bouts held across nine different weight divisions.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the juniors, with competitors aged between eight and 15 doing battle.

A successful day was capped off by Deputy Mayor of Hertsmere Borough Council, Councillor Pat Strack, being present to hand out the medals.
