Catherine McNeill was called up for Radlett's fifth team against Sawbridgeworth IV on Saturday, to become the first woman player to represent the club in the Herts League.
Though the Division 11 match was lost by eight wickets, McNeill did well enough to merit further selection by batting nicely at number four until she was dismissed for four runs, hitting a high full toss back to the bowler. In the field, she was sharp and had a better throw than most of her team-mates.
Radlett captain Charlie Randall said: "Calling up Cath was an inspired idea when we found ourselves short on Saturday morning. Her enthusiasm for the battle was impressive, and her name will be on the selection table for the next game."
