Boreham Wood crashed out of the FA Cup as League Two outfit Notts County eased to a 2-0 win in their first round replay at Meadow Lane.

Jonathan Forte fired County into the lead after 24 minutes before James Collins added a second with the last kick of the game.

National League Wood were under pressure early on and Graham Burke tested Grant Smith to force a decent early stop from the keeper.

Adam Campbell fired just wide from the resulting corner as the visitors struggled to get into the game in the opening exchanges.

Having found their feet, Anthony Jeffrey went close with a curling effort from the edge of the box.

It was County though who broke the deadlock when Joe Devera’s missed header allowed Forte to smash a powerful volley home.

The second half followed a similar pattern and Smith again had to be alert to prevent Campbell doubling the lead.

Wood almost snatched a late equaliser as Jamie Lucas narrowly missed with a header, but the result was put beyond doubt in emphatic fashion moments later.

Collins picked the ball up some 25 yards from goal, smartly turned beyond a static Wood defence and unleashed an unstoppable drive in off the underside of the bar.

Wood will now have to dust themselves off ahead of their National League clash with Southport on Saturday.
