Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard insists there is no reason why his side cannot pull off an FA Cup upset by defeating Notts County on Sunday.

Wood will be in the national spotlight this weekend when they entertain their League Two opponents at Meadow Park.

But Garrard wants his players to believe in themselves and thinks the fans can play a major part in their chances of a cup shock.

Garrard told the club website: “I’ve told the boys to just enjoy any attention they get while it lasts, but to remember that in the FA Cup, winning is the only goal they need to ultimately focus on.

“When your an underdog with a chance like we are, then it’s important that we believe and we do.”

He continued: “So if our supporters turn up in their numbers, as they did in our relegation battle down at Welling last season then the atmosphere they create, could well bring an upset in the FA Cup to Meadow Park.

"The shock is going to happen somewhere, so why can’t it be us?”

The club are hoping for a bumper crowd for the match which kicks off at 2pm on Sunday.

Wood come into the match off the back of a 2-1 home victory over Woking in the National League.
