Boreham Wood’s unbeaten start to the National League season will face a stern examination on Saturday when they face newly-relegated York City at Bootham Crescent (kick-off 3pm).

Luke Garrard’s Wood followed up Saturday’s 1-0 triumph over Forest Green Rovers with a crushing 4-1 demolition of Dover Athletic on Tuesday night.

The Minstermen, who finished bottom of League Two last term to return to non-league football for the first time since 2012, have made a solid start to life in the National League by drawing 1-1 at Maidstone United on the opening day and beating Macclesfield Town 1-0 on Tuesday night.

As is usually the case with relegated sides, York have operated something of a revolving door policy with the number of new faces in double figures.

Among Jackie McNamara’s summer acquisitions is a player who will be familiar to Boreham Wood fans following a successful loan spell at Meadow Park last season. Clovis Kamdjo impressed in a holding midfield role for Wood and left Forest Green Rovers for York over the summer.

The Cameroonian enforcer made his first foray into the Football League with Barnet. After impressing on loan from Reading he made his move permanent and spent four years with the Bees before moving to Salisbury City.

Financial troubles hit Salisbury and the athletic midfielder moved to The New Lawn only to fall out of favour at the end of the 2014/15 season.

It was Kamdjo who got York’s equaliser against Maidstone on the opening day after Bobby-Joe Taylor had given the division’s new boys the lead in front of the BT Sport cameras.

One of the remaining members of last season’s side is goalkeeper Scott Flinders. He cost Crystal Palace £1m when he moved from Barnsley in 2006 but featured sparingly for the Eagles and spent time on loan at Gillingham, Yeovil Town, Brighton & Hove Albion, Blackpool and Falkirk before joining Hartlepool United in 2009.

Flinders spent six years with Pools and was Player of the Season during his time at Victoria Park. However, he opted for a fresh challenge last summer when his contract expired and moved to Bootham Crescent where he made 48 appearances in all competitions.

One of the departures from York this summer was left-back Femi Ilesanmi. He signed for Garrard’s side just before the start of the season but is yet to make his debut for Wood.
