Boreham Wood have completed the signing of Braintree Town captain Kenny Davis.

The 28-year-old scored nine goals in all competitions last season netting his last in the National League promotion semi-final first leg win over Grimsby Town.

The former Iron skipper is the second big departure from the club after manager Danny Cowley decided to take over league rivals Lincoln City.

Davis, who played more than 200 games for Braintree, spent three seasons with Grays Athletic before making the switch to Cressing Road in 2010.

Davis is Wood's second signing ahead of the new season after adding Woking winger Bruno Andrade to their squad.

The club secured their National League status on the final day of the season, winning 3-0 at Welling United to finish two points above the drop zone.

Wood manager Luke Garrard said: “Kenny really is a fantastic signing for me and the club.

“The chairman has obviously backed me on this and I’m really excited for our supporters and the town, as we’re trying to achieve something nobody thought possible just a few short years ago.

“At 28, Kenny’s best years are still ahead of him and I’m pleased after he saw our set up, our pitch, our training facilities and listened to our plans for next season, that Kenny was keen to come onboard and get involved with us.”
