Anthony Jeffrey will remain on loan at Boreham Wood until the end of the season after joining Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee while Matty Whichelow has moved to Oxford City on loan.

Whichelow, 24, has found first-team opportunities at Meadow Park limited this season.

He was on loan at Chelmsford City earlier in the campaign and will now link up with National League South side Oxford until May.

The sale of Jeffrey, 21, comes after the former Arsenal youngster joined Wood permanently last month.

He had impressed on loan from National League South outfit Concord Rangers before agreeing a full-time switch during January.

He will remain with Luke Garrard’s side for the rest of the season before joining National League high-flyers Forest Green for the 2016/17 campaign.

Speaking to the club’s website, chairman Danny Hunter said: “It’s important that our younger players, like Anthony, are allowed to progress their careers – as long as they give everything they have while at the club.

“That has happened with Anthony this season and the way Forest Green went about their business meant we could negotiate a way forward intelligently – especially with us being in such a precarious position.”

Hunter continued: “Dale Vince, the Forest Green owner, was very sympathetic to our dilemma of not wanting to lose one of our talisman at this time and with the transfer window closing.

“As such he worked closely with me to find a suitable working solution for both our clubs, both our managers and, of course, Anthony Jeffrey.

“The good thing is that Anthony can see his career has begun to take off while he’s been with us.

"He has assured me that until he actually goes to Forest Green he will give everything he’s got for the club, the team and our supporters.

“I now expect him to play an even bigger part in our survival hopes.”

Jeffrey, who had a loan spell with Wood during the 2013/14 season, has scored once in 13 league appearances this season.
