Boreham Wood have bolstered their striking options, as promised, with the signing of Bristol Rovers’ Jamie Lucas on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old impressed earlier this season on loan at Meadow Park, scoring three times in 11 games across two brief spells.

Manager Luke Garrard is pleased to welcome Lucas back and said: “Jamie has been on my radar from the moment he went back.

“He has proved already that he is a handful for defences at this level and he gets goals. He comes into a squad that is growing in confidence and will give me options in the forward areas.”

Chairman Danny Hunter added: “I would like to thank Bristol Rovers, and especially their manager Darrell Clarke, for their help in getting this deal over the line.

“We are now starting to see a really well balanced squad put together here that can compete at this level.

“Jamie adds power, strength and an eye for goal at this level. The manager and player were very keen to get the deal done as early as possible in this transfer window.”

Lucas initially joined Wood before the opening day of the season and scored in a 2-0 win over FC Halifax Town.

However, a hamstring injury saw his time in Hertfordshire cut short and he returned to Rovers. He was re-signed after recovering but was then re-called by Gas boss Clarke, only to make a two substitute appearances for the League Two side.
