Injury-plagued Tabard were comfortably beaten 29-11 at home by Hampstead on Saturday.

The visitors opened the scoring after eight minutes when Tabard were adjudged to have handled on the ground.

But Tabard responded well to that setback and got on the scoresheet when Tom King raced onto Jack Reilly's chip to score in the corner.

Reilly, though, struck the upright with the subsequent conversion attempt.

Tabard maintained that momentum and were next to score when Reilly dissected the posts with a penalty after 20 minutes to make it 8-3.

But a penalty against the hosts allowed Hampstead back into the game and the away side went in front when a forward pass went unnoticed and they crossed.

The conversion made it 10-8 with 23 minutes played.

Things went from bad to worse when King was sin binned for hands in the ruck.

Hampstead took full advantage from there and scored again – this time from a tap penalty – to lead 17-8 after the conversion.

But Tabard were still not out of the contest and when Chris Beadle was stopped just short of the line Reilly kicked another penalty to bring the hosts within six points of their visitors.

Tabard were quickly on the attack again but were unable to capitalise on their territory.

Hampstead nullified the Tabard attack and cleared the ball to halfway where Tabard were penalised for holding on, allowing Hampstead to put the ball deep into Tabard’s 22.

The visitor’s drive was stopped but their number eight picked up possession and crashed over from the next scrum with ten minutes remaining.

The game’s last score went to Hampstead when their number ten split the Tabard defence to race in and cross the whitewash, finishing the hosts off for good.
