Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard believes his side need to become more clinical in front of goal after their frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Lincoln City last night.

The hosts had more than enough chances to win the National League game but had to settle for a point.

Garrard said: "We always try and go for the win, especially at home. We have to be on the front foot. There is an energy and a tempo to our play. It's just we need a bit of killer, clinical play in and around the box."

The Wood boss feels he has the players to put away their chances and believes it is only a matter of time before they punish their opponents.

He said: "We worked on drills in and around the box with little tight finishes and one twos. I've got an analyst that has identified where our shots are coming from so we need to start improving that because you can't have that amount of possession and shots and still only be drawing 1-1.

"Obviously we had Lee Angol last year and he's scored again for Peterborough this week. It's finding that goalscorer. Charlie MacDonald is that goalscorer, Junior Morias is that goalscorer but it's just not falling for us at the minute.

"I just said to the boys then someone's going to get one. Some team's going to get something soon because you can't have that amount of possession and shots but only score one goal."

Fifth-placed Lincoln took the lead after 19 minutes through Matt Rhead's header but Clovis Kamdjo levelled just eight minutes later when he nodded home.

Wood dominated the second half but spurned a series of efforts as they were unable to find the winner.

Garrard said: "I felt the performance deserved three points. I felt the boys – second half especially – took it to Lincoln. We looked strong and fit towards the end. It's just that we couldn't finish our chances.

"I believe we had about eight or nine shots in the second half. We got into some good areas with Anthony Jeffrey and Mauro [Vilhete]. We loaded the box and it's unfortunate it didn't fall for us."

The result leaves Wood one place above the relegation zone with 21 points from 23 games. Garrard's side were beaten 1-0 at Altrincham on Saturday after Nicky Clee scored a 76th minute winner.

Wood will hope to complete the double over Tranmere on Saturday at Meadow Park after pulling off a surprise away win in August.
