Striker Harry Crawford has joined National League new-boys Boreham Wood on a short-term deal after impressing on trial during pre-season.

The striker has previously played for the likes of Southend United, Dover, Dartford and Barnet and has impressed manager Ian Allinson during pre-season after featuring heavily for Wood.

Speakign to the club's website, Allinson enthused:“Harry came into the club during pre-season, he’s been a pleasure to have around, he gets on well with the squad and has worked very, very hard.

“In Harry’s case it’s been a difficult one for me to assess, especially as we’ve played against league teams like Luton Town and Brentford.”

“I like players who show a good attitude in training and I like to see players who look to continually improve their game.

"Harry fits the profile I describe and with the season just a week away, I’ve had to make a judgement call to sign him.

"I’ve also agreed with Harry that we will review things at the end of August as that will give him enough time to impress me further and get himself an improved deal.”

The 23-year-old winger-cum-forward spent last season in the National League with Dartford as Tony Burman's side were relegated from the top tier of non-league football.

Born in Watford, Crawford began his career with Southend United but failed to establish himself as a regular at Roots Hall and in 2012, joined the Darts for the first time.

His form at Princes Park caught the attention of Barnet boss Edgar Davids and he moved to The Hive on a three-year deal in January 2013. But a month later he returned to Kent on loan.

And after being released by the Bees at the end of the 2013/14 season, Crawford joined the Darts for a third time, scoring seven league goals in 28 starts last term.
