Arsenal Ladies trio Alex Scott, Casey Stoney and Jordan Nobbs helped England into the last 16 of the World Cup as they beat Colombia 2-1 on Wednesday.

The Gunners players, who play their home club matches at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park, all played 90 minutes as England won their final group game.

The victory meant that England finished as runners-up in Group F, pitching them against Norway in the second round.

Fellow Arsenal star came off the bench in the win while Siobhan Chamberlain and was an unused substitute.

The game began in comfortable fashion for the Three Lions as Karen Carney dispatched the opening goal from Steph Houghton’s free-kick after just a quarter-of-an-hour.

And seven minutes before half time, Fara Williams slammed home a penalty to put England in cruise control.

A late Lady Andrade goal ensured a nervous last few moments, but England held on to finish above Colombia, who, as the best-placed third-place side, also qualified for the knockout stages.

England take on Norway in Ottawa on Monday.
