Radlett’s title defence continued with a second win from as many Saracens Herts League fixtures on Saturday as they defeated Hemel Hempstead Town by 103 runs.

Put into bat, the defending champions began steadily; Fraser Crawford (34) and Kabir Toor (44) putting on 83 for the opening wicket.

Jonathan McLean, at four, made 27 whilst Shane Burger contributed an unbeaten 70 as Radlett closed on 231 for eight.

Hemel offered little in reply with Burger (three for 22) and Rob Clements (two for 11) providing little opportunity for their batsmen to breath.

Sam Jenkinson (32) top scored but Hemel closed on 128 all out.

Shenley Village are still searching for their first win of the Championship season after falling to a three-wicket defeat at Stevenage.

Having won the toss, Shenley opted to open the batting and their decision was vindicated as Charles Thurston opened by thrashing his way to 118 from 127 deliveries.

However, Thurston was not supported by those beneath him in the order and partners came and went with alarming regularity.

Paresh Kerai, batting at number seven, weighed in with 30 and Craig Rawlings made an unbeaten 26 before the away side closed on 247 for eight.

Martin Nevill returned the best figures for Stevenage, taking two for 25.

And Shenley made an encouraging start with the ball, restricting openers Chis Whitworth (30) and David Carr (29).

However, a knock of 40 from Neville Talbot signalled a change in the momentum and a further 75 from Earl Lee helped steer Stevenage towards the required total of 249 with three wickets in hand.

Sailesh Vekaria finished with three for 45 but it was not enough for the away side, who are left searching for their first win still.
