Boreham Wood took a major step towards reaching the Conference South play-off final after a 2-0 semi final first leg win at Havant & Waterlooville.
The visitors got off to a perfect start after just three minutes when Lee Angol set up Junior Morias and he hit an unstoppable 20-yard strike into the net.
Havant responded and JJ Hooper found the target but his shot failed to trouble Wood goalkeeper James Russell.
Ian Allinson's side almost doubled their lead when Ricky Shakes set up Angol but his volley was well saved by Ryan Young.
But Wood were indebted to Russell after the keeper made two vital saves to keep out efforts from Harry Connick and Bradley Bubb.
The visitors struck again with their second goal six minutes before half time. Morias passed to Graeme Montgomery and he caught Young off guard as he fired his shot into the net.
The expected fightback from Havant in the second half failed to materialise and Wood could have even added to their lead through Morias but his effort was saved.
It means Wood are in pole position ahead of the second leg at Meadow Park on Saturday.
