Tabard’s eight-match winning run came to an end after a 21-5 defeat at London North West Two leaders Harrow on Saturday.

The first points of the game went to the hosts after Harrow kicked over a fourth-minute penalty.

Tabard responded well and enjoyed more possession and territory but they were caught out against the run of play as Harrow scored the opening try.

Harrow were then penalised and received the first of seven yellow cards during the match. Their depleted pack could not cope with the visitors’ catch and drive and second row Cam O’Connor crossed the line. Jack Reilly missed the conversion but it left Tabard just 8-5 down at the break.

The second half got off to a bad start when O’Connor was forced off the pitch with an ankle injury. It got even worse when Reilly was shown a yellow card after pushing an opponent in response to a high tackle on him.

The penalty was reversed in favour of Harrow and they took advantage by adding three points to stretch their lead.

Further yellows were to follow for two players wrestling off the ball. The Harrow perpetrator was on his second card which meant he was forced off for the remainder of the match.

But the visitors fell further behind when Tabard scrum-half Harry Gough was adjudged to have come offside at a scrum. Harrow kicked over the penalty to move closer to victory with 15 minutes remaining.

The referee got his cards out again when he brandished yellows to two players including Tabard flanker Liam Kelly after a minor scuffle.

The league leaders sealed the points late on when the winger raced over for the final try of the game.

Tabard will attempt to get back to winning ways this weekend when they host Old Haberdashers.
