Boreham Wood manager Ian Allinson insists his team will not take struggling Wealdstone lightly this weekend as they continue their pursuit of league leaders Basingstoke Town.

Wood are currently second in the Conference South after a superb start to the season and will be heavy favourites to see off the Stones at home tomorrow.

Allinson [pictured] told the club website: “This will be every bit as hard as our previous encounters with Wealdstone, make no mistake.

“Their form on the road has been superb. They have picked up two wins and come away from Gosport Borough and Ebbsfleet with two 0-0 draws.”

The Wood manager added: “We will need to be at our very best and bearing in mind we have two tough games coming up in three days I will be looking to use the squad wisely.”

It is the first meeting between the sides for four years and the recent clashes have not gone Wood’s way with just one victory in the last six matches played in the Ryman Premier Division.

But it has been a tough start for the Stones following last season’s promotion.

Gordon Bartlett’s team had to wait until the middle of September for their first league win and are still without a victory at Grosvenor Vale.

Wood fans will be familiar with a couple of the Wealdstone players, with Elliott Godfrey alongside Matt Ball after he joined from Farnborough last month.

Former Stevenage midfielder Ball signed on loan for Allinson’s side last season and is likely to line up against them this weekend following his recent move to Wealdstone.

Wood decided this week to send versatile midfielder Greg Morgan out on a short-term loan to Biggleswade Town.

Allinson said “I need to ensure that with competition for places fierce at present, that all our players remain match fit.

“I feel that due to the excellent form of the team in recent weeks, that Greg would get limited game time in November.

“As such I explained to Greg that I want him playing competitive games and he’s happy to get match time in the short term.

“I have no doubt his loan period will be successful and he will be a fantastic addition to Biggleswade Town squad.

“By the time the loan period ends, he’ll come back better and fitter for the experience.”

Wood have a busy week ahead with the Wealdstone match followed by a home game against Maidenhead United on Monday.

Eight wins from their first 13 matches has left Wood second in the table and just two points behind Basingstoke.

Wood have only lost once at home all season which came against Bath City back in August.

The side come into this weekend’s game off the back of four consecutive wins at Meadow Park.

Allinson’s side should be refreshed for the game against the Stones having not played since their FA Cup defeat to Woking two weeks ago.
