Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson insists his side will have nothing to lose next week when they visit Conference title contenders Woking in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Wood moved within one victory of the first round proper after edging to a 1-0 replay home win over Frome Town on Monday night.

Allinson’s side will face a trip to second-placed Woking on Saturday, October 25 where they will be big outsiders but the manager believes his side could upset the odds.

Speaking to the club website, Allinson said: “Any time you go to Woking you know it’s going to be difficult but perhaps even more so at the moment, as their gaffer Garry Hill has got them flying. They sit second in the Conference National, they score goals all over the park and they don’t concede many.

“Of course we wanted a kinder draw and I’m sure Woking are more than pleased to get a home draw against a team from a division below.

“The draw cannot be seen as anything but kind to them, though as we all know it is the FA Cup. If we play well and they have an off day, then who knows?”

He added: “I have great respect for the job Garry Hill and his staff have done there and he is without doubt a top non-league manager, who improves every club he’s gone to.

“We also know we go there with nothing to lose and everything to gain. We’re expected to get beat but the magic of the cup often throws up shocks and we’ll go there to win with absolutely no pressure, looking to work our socks off, looking to be organised, looking to play our part in a real ding dong cup tie and looking to make our fans proud.”

Allinson’s side turn their attention back to the Conference South this weekend with a trip to Hayes & Yeading United.

Wood are currently second in the table, just two points behind leaders Basingstoke Town.
Their opponents are seventh but have two games in hand on Wood and are only five points behind them.

Wood lost both games against United last season and will be looking to maintain their impressive start to the league campaign.

Allinson will have to manage without the suspended Angol after the striker was sent off at Havant & Waterlooville.
