Champions Shenley Village were held by Hitchin in their final Herts Division One game of the season.

The team [pictured] clinched the title last week and have the chance to retain the Herts County Trophy on Sunday when they take on Botany Bay.

Shenley Village had the upper hand against Hitchin but could not quite force the victory.

The champions batted first and were in impressive form as they finished on 251 for nine. Tom Bruce stole the show with a superb knock of 130.

Hitchin were in trouble but managed to avoid defeat as they ended the match on 152 for eight.

William Gerrard was the pick of the bowlers taking four for 36 while Nikhil Borkhatria returned figures of two for 50.

Radlett will face Bishop’s Stortford in their play-off semi-final tomorrow (Saturday) after finishing top of the Premier Division.

A 45-run win over Welwyn Garden City sent them into their knockout match with fourth-placed Bishop’s Stortford full of confidence.
