Company finds its wings amid economic downturn

An award-winning digital agency in Borehamwood has defied the odds of the credit crunch by expanding its business.

Cyber-Duck, based in Manor Way, works with companies and individuals on web production, branding and online marketing.

The company was started four years ago by current managing director Danny Bluestone from his home in Mill Hill.

It received an award last year for the best use of a website in the Construction Marketing Awards for wall partitioning specialists Optima.

Mr Bluestone said: “We were based in Sterling Way in Borehamwood before we moved here last month and we are very happy to be working in this area.

“This area is the hub of studio land which is great. A year ago we employed three or four people and now we have a team of 11.

"The credit crunch has not affected us in the way it has affected a lot of other businesses which may be down to the type of business we have.

“This is down to the dedication of working six or seven days a week and as senior management I get involved in all the details to make sure the company runs well.”

Matt Gibson, 24, from Borehamwood, is head of production at the company.

He said: “I am a local person so it is great for me to work here. This is a particularly good area to work in for the company as I think it helps being outside of London as clients prefer to come to a place like this.

“In the office in Sterling Way we were crammed in and here we have a design studio.

“If we were based in Shoreditch then we wouldn’t be so accessible. By being here the parking is available and clients find it easier to spend time discussing their plans with us face-to-face.”

Mr Bluestone added: “We are still recruiting at the moment and we actually prefer working with people from the area.”
