I was sad to hear of the passing away of Barbara Cass last week. She was the wife of Pat Cass and between them they did so much for this community and indeed won an award from Hertsmere Borough Council for their hard work. They were two of the most respected people in Borehamwood.
Once, when I told Barbara of a young single mother whose son wanted to play football but because of the lack of money was unable to do so, she said to me she would never stop a child playing football because the parent could not afford it. This was the kindness of the woman.
This boy did play and I was told was pretty good and an asset to the football club. God bless you Barbara. The world is a sadder place without you in it.
