Josh Darlington reported the praise for our MP on his performance before the Home Affairs Select Committee investigating the ongoing News of the World scandal (‘Hacking inquiry’, Borehamwood & Elstree Times, July 22).

Our MP’s comments to the BBC that the Prime Minister has given a complete explanation and he has certainly given it to his satisfaction — should fool only the gullible.

The willingness of establishment politicians to comply and pander with an unscrupulous ruthless empire like the Murdochs’ speaks volumes of their priorities and hypocrisy, is it any wonder that politicians and so-called journalists do not rank highly in public consciousness when personal honesty is an issue?

According to my newspaper our Prime Minister has met News International bosses 26 times in a ten-month period, it beggars belief how he found time to carry out his onerous duties as PM.

Finally, despite our MP’s charming mannerisms, who could possibly fail to be taken in by them, his presence in Parliament since being elected has been supine, a perfect example of absolute loyalty to the Conservative Party, rarely if ever rebelling against the party whip. The knighthood must be surely be in the bag.
