I write in response to the article ‘Centre must be open to all’ Borehamwood & Elstree Times, July 8.
As a member of Arundel Social Club, I feel very let down by my local council in respect of the removal of the bar from the Three Ways Community Centre.
It is an affordable place where my family and I can go to meet friends and have a drink. We often watch the football there with friends, which is important for my son.
We have been to many parties there. These people have hired the Three Ways because of the bar. If the groups you are concerned about don’t wish to have a bar, why not use the other community halls in Borehamwood?
Do you wish to be the person to ruin many families’ social lives just because you think the community doesn’t want a bar? There is a large diversity of people of all ages who use the centre. It is available to hire out. Why try to fix something which isn’t broken?
The council was voted in by the local people. Isn’t it time it listened to what we would like? Please consult with local people on this matter.
The bar should stay. It is what makes the Three Ways a community centre.
