I am delighted to hear that Hertsmere Borough Council will be refurbishing the Three Ways Centre.

However, I find it strange that it appears to be introducing changes to the layout and facilities without consulting any of the residents as to what they would like at their community centre.

I have myself, as a local councillor, carried out a survey by delivering 500 questionnaires to local households. I was amazed at the response I received.

From this, I can tell you 91 per cent of those who responded are in favour of having an alcohol licence. Also, 88 per cent are in favour of allowing other groups to use the centre. These responses were not only from regular users or members of the club, but also from residents who never or rarely use the facilities.

Before the borough council makes any major changes at the centre, I feel it should consult widely in the community. It should also look at other centres in other boroughs where they have a built-in bar and the similar facilities. It should be down to the people to decide what they want and what they will use.
