In the media we’re always hearing about the appalling state of the NHS but from my recent experience I have nothing but praise, and would like to share with your readers the wonderful treatment I was given.
I would like to express my utmost thanks to all of the doctors and nurses and all of hospital staff in the A&E department, in the clinical decision unit and also in cardiology.
I recently had heart surgery at UCH heart hospital in Westmoreland Street, London. A week after the operation I had chest pains and was taken to Barnet Hospital by ambulance and I was quite scared.
When I arrived in the A&E department, I received the most superior care and attention that could be given. The doctors and nurses really put me at ease and were constantly explaining procedures and reassuring me.
After a short while, I was admitted to the clinical decision unit. Again my treatment was excellent and I received plenty of care and attention and everyone made my stay as comfortable as possible.
I had to go on a treadmill in the cardiology unit and the staff fitted me in on Friday afternoon after the time when they should have finished their shift to enable me to be discharged that evening, otherwise I would have had to stay in hospital over the whole bank holiday weekend and then go on the treadmill on the Tuesday instead.
Again I would like to thank every member of staff who looked after me during my stay for their marvellous dedication and their professionalism.
