Times is part of history

I would like to add my concerns regarding the fact that the Borehamwood & Elstree Times is closing its office in Drayton Road two or three days a week which I fear it could be the thin end of the wedge leading to permanent closure.

This paper is 60 years old next year and has been in Drayton Road for a long time, since moving from Shenley Road when it was the Borehamwood Post. It has always been supported by some of the best young reporters I have ever met who work well with the local people. Indeed one of the good things to come from this reshuffle is that Emma Hutchings is the assistant editor and has our two existing reporters Janaki Mahadevan and Suruchi Sharma working with her — a great team.

If this office closes, it would be another piece of our history gone. Also, it will break the link with the people who give this paper its life-blood news as it happens and reports by dropping in to the local office.

I've lived in Boehamwood for over 40 years and I can honestly say that if the Times office does close permanently then it will not make one jot of differance to my life.

Hopefully when the office closes it will be transformed into something the community really needs.

How about another fast food establishment?
