Regarding the problem of unsocial parking in Gibbons Close (‘No consideration for other drivers’, Your Views, December 19), it is unfortunate that the only power the council (in this case Hertsmere Borough Council) has is to introduce a controlled parking zone (CPZ) if a significant majority of residents wish to have one.
However, this does take quite a long time to implement as it involves a consultation with residents and might not anyway deal with this problem.
Clearly, if a vehicle is creating an obstruction there are actions open to police or traffic wardens.
I can only suggest that the alternative would be to address the issue in person directly with the offender, who may be unaware of the problem they are causing. I have spoken with one of the PCSOs for the area and, along with a councillor such as myself perhaps, we could together raise the issue with the resident concerned.
If your correspondent would like to contact me with the relevant details I will follow this up.
