I wholeheartedly agree with the letter from Roma Zirte (‘I agree layout is poorly thought-out’, Your Views, November 28), and wish to expand upon the points made.
Whoever dreamed up the layout of the Boulevard Shopping Park has a lot to answer for. Having parking spaces in front of Boots, Lidl, etc, is an accident waiting to happen.
The car park layout should be put back to its original format, which worked, before anyone suffers a serious injury or even a fatality occurs. As the expression goes ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’.
My specific concerns are:- l Was it necessary to redesign a car park and put spaces in front of the shops?
- As those cars manoeuvre out of the above mentioned spaces, they have to contend with two-way traffic and people milling around,
- There are shoppers, families and mothers with buggies all walking around. They need to have eyes in the back of their heads to spot cars coming from all directions now.
Please can the appropriate people take heed of these comments, which I am sure are shared by many other people in our community visiting the Boulevard, before an incident occurs.
I look forward to reading a response and for the shopping area to continue to be a safe place for all.
