The ‘Get to Know Cancer’ pop-up shop at the Broadwalk Centre in Edgware was opened to give residents support and advice about any worries and questions they may have about cancer.
The pop-up shop is a chance to get to know cancer and act sooner.
The service so far has been a great success and in the first week of opening, nurses spoke to 519 adults as well as 50 children. The Get to Know Cancer pop-up shop is a great opportunity for anyone who has any concerns about cancer to talk have a confidential chat with one of the specialist nurses and Cancer Research UK activists, who will provide support and advice on the signs and symptoms of cancer.
They will give advice on how to look after your health and when you might need to see a doctor.
It is estimated that more than one in three people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime, but many are still too afraid to speak about any worrying symptoms they may have, or are not aware of the early signs and symptoms associated with certain types of cancer.
The pop-up shop is also a chance to find out how to reduce your risks of cancer.
It is open at the shopping centre until Sunday and for more information visit www.my health.london.nhs. uk/gettoknowcancer
